Marvel Multiverse Table Top Role-Playing Game - Summer 2023

A new Marvel TTRPG is heading our way for Summer 2023. I have some really fond memories of the Marvel Superheroes Roleplaying game put out by TSR in the 1980's. It was right along side Dungeons & Dragons as one of my introductory games to ttrpgs. This new game looks to be based purely on a six-sided dice system. The playtest rulebook for the game is available now for anyone who wants to run an early version of the game through its paces before the finalized version comes out next year. I'll admit I'm curious enough make that purchase myself. Here is the official press release from Marvel:  MARVEL LAUNCHING CORE RULEBOOK FOR NEW TABLETOP ROLE-PLAYING GAME IN SUMMER 2023   ‘MARVEL MULTIVERSE ROLE-PLAYING GAME: CORE RULEBOOK’ AVAILABLE JUNE 2023   FOLLOWED BY ‘MARVEL MULTIVERSE ROLE-PLAYING GAME: THE CATACLYSM OF KANG’ AVAILABLE JULY 2023     Use the D616 game system to embody your favorite Super Heroes and Super Villains!     New York, NY— August 22, 2022 –  New adventu

2012 Harvey Award Nominees - Baltimore Comic Con

Every year the Harvey Awards are held at the Baltimore Comic Con in Baltimore, MD this year the event will held September 8-9th at the Baltimore Convention Center. The Harvey Awards, named after comic icon Harvey Kurtzman is one of the older comic awards and its been associated with the Baltimore Con since 2005. Baltimore Comic Con has always struck me as one of the best and true comic book conventions. While it has grown in size it hasn't succumbed to the influx of television, video games and movies that other conventions have as they've grown. The show has stayed very true to being a convention for comic book fans, making it the perfect venue for the Harvey Awards. I love looking over these ballots because its a great way of pointing out some top notch talent and publications that I missed in the year. It helps me focus my shopping list when diving into the dealers sections of the conventions I got to over the summer.

Below are the nominations for the 2012 award. Voting is open to any professional in the comic field.

BEST LETTERER
Chris Eliopoulos, FEAR ITSELF, Marvel Comics

Todd Klein, S.H.I.E.L.D.: ARCHITECTS OF FOREVER, Marvel Comics
David Lanphear, SECRET AVENGERS, Marvel Comics
Jason Shiga, EMPIRE STATE: A LOVE STORY (OR NOT), Abrams ComicArts

This makes me want to look back at the lettering in the books that I own in this category. Though I appreciate the lettering when reading a book, its not something that sticks with me or that I compare from book to book.

Francesco Francavilla, BLACK PANTHER: THE MAN WITHOUT FEAR, Marvel Comics
Sunny Gho, ARTIFACTS, Top Cow
