Marvel Multiverse Table Top Role-Playing Game - Summer 2023

A new Marvel TTRPG is heading our way for Summer 2023. I have some really fond memories of the Marvel Superheroes Roleplaying game put out by TSR in the 1980's. It was right along side Dungeons & Dragons as one of my introductory games to ttrpgs. This new game looks to be based purely on a six-sided dice system. The playtest rulebook for the game is available now for anyone who wants to run an early version of the game through its paces before the finalized version comes out next year. I'll admit I'm curious enough make that purchase myself. Here is the official press release from Marvel:  MARVEL LAUNCHING CORE RULEBOOK FOR NEW TABLETOP ROLE-PLAYING GAME IN SUMMER 2023   ‘MARVEL MULTIVERSE ROLE-PLAYING GAME: CORE RULEBOOK’ AVAILABLE JUNE 2023   FOLLOWED BY ‘MARVEL MULTIVERSE ROLE-PLAYING GAME: THE CATACLYSM OF KANG’ AVAILABLE JULY 2023     Use the D616 game system to embody your favorite Super Heroes and Super Villains!     New York, NY— August 22, 2022 –  New adventu

Elvis Week: Elvis Goes to the White House 12/21/1970

I knew of this famous meeting and I found an excellent recounting of the visit by Egil 'Bud' Krogh who was a White House Deputy for Domestic Affairs in the early '70's, on Elvis Austrailia. The US National Archive even has special website dedicated to the meeting (can you believe it??) http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/nixon-met-elvis/main.php. The purpose of the visit was very specific, it went beyond a tour and photo op. Elvis seriously wanted to be made a special agent at large serving the Federal government. He wanted to share some of his own research on Communists and drug addiction. He came away from this visit with Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs badge that he carried with him all the time. Elvis had an extensive collection of badges and firearms. It's also believed the FBI gave him a permit to carry a weapon in all the 50 states. As a gift to the President, Elvis gave him the firearm below.

One of the awesome parts of this story is that Elvis was allowed to walk into the Oval Office, with two firearms. One pistol he used for protection and this piece that was a gift. Unreal. No way that would happen today. Not a chance.
