Marvel Multiverse Table Top Role-Playing Game - Summer 2023

A new Marvel TTRPG is heading our way for Summer 2023. I have some really fond memories of the Marvel Superheroes Roleplaying game put out by TSR in the 1980's. It was right along side Dungeons & Dragons as one of my introductory games to ttrpgs. This new game looks to be based purely on a six-sided dice system. The playtest rulebook for the game is available now for anyone who wants to run an early version of the game through its paces before the finalized version comes out next year. I'll admit I'm curious enough make that purchase myself. Here is the official press release from Marvel:  MARVEL LAUNCHING CORE RULEBOOK FOR NEW TABLETOP ROLE-PLAYING GAME IN SUMMER 2023   ‘MARVEL MULTIVERSE ROLE-PLAYING GAME: CORE RULEBOOK’ AVAILABLE JUNE 2023   FOLLOWED BY ‘MARVEL MULTIVERSE ROLE-PLAYING GAME: THE CATACLYSM OF KANG’ AVAILABLE JULY 2023     Use the D616 game system to embody your favorite Super Heroes and Super Villains!     New York, NY— August 22, 2022 –  New adventu

Another Day, More DC Title Announcements

This is probably the most interest batch of titles announced so far. We have a few more Batman titles and then we get into titles that make it clear that DC is committed to bringing some serious horror and supernatural titles back into the fold of the DC Universe instead of keeping them under the Vertigo imprint.

GREEN LANTERN #1
Writer: Geoff Johns, Art: Doug Mahnke and Christian Alamy
Cover by Ivan Reis and Joe Prado.

GREEN LANTERN CORPS #1
Written by Peter J. Tomasi, Art by Fernando Pasarin and Scott Hanna.
Cover by Doug Mahnke and Christian Alamy.

No big surprise with these two. The marketing machine is working overtime pumping up the Green Lantern movie. OF COURSE their going to continue to have a Green Lantern comic. GL Corps looks to be a big part of the film if the trailers are to be believed, bringing back the title focused on the Corp is a no-brainers as well.

GREEN LANTERN: THE NEW GUARDIANS #1
Written by Tony Bedard and illustrated
Cover by Tyler Kirkham and Batt.
In this we have a representative from each of the Lantern groups led by Kyle Rayner. I'm glad to see the Kyle Rayner character is continuing to be used in interesting ways. It would've been so easy to kick this character to the curb with Hal Jordan's return as Green Lantern.

RED LANTERNS #1
Written by Peter Milligan Art & Cover by Ed Benes and Rob Hunter.
I'll pass. No interest in this whatsoever. I can't stand the take no prisoners, mirror image anti-hero. The concept is finished in my mind.

THE RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #1
Writer: Scott Lobdell, Art: Kenneth Rocafort
Jason Todd is back in the company of heroes it seems. Looks good even if the Red Hood looks a bit like Deadpool in this image.

BATWING #1
Writer: Judd Winick, Art: Ben Oliver

SWAMP THING #1
Writer: Scott Snyder, Art: Yannick Paquette

JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK #1
Writer: Peter Milligan, Art: Mikel Janin
This is one that could really be special. I hope by saying that I haven't doomed it to future $1 bins.

ANIMAL MAN #1
Writer: Jeff Lemire, Art: Travel Foreman & Dan Green
YAY! Buddy Baker is back in his own title. Animal Man is such a great character.

DEMON KNIGHTS #1
Writer: Paul Cornell, Artists: Diogenes Neves & Oclair Albert
Etrigan, the Demon protecting Camelot in a medieval setting. I like the Demon, but I don't at the same time. The character seems cool, but reading his rhyming dialog wears on me after a few pages. This book will need a strong supporting cast in order for me to be a regular reader.

FRANKENSTEIN, AGENT OF SHADE #1
Writer: Jeff Lemire, Art: Alberto Ponticelli
Frankenstein has been great as one of the Seven Soldiers. It seems every comic company has its take on Frankenstein. Right now DC Comics has the coolest. I'll give this one a few issues to see if it grabs me.

RESURRECTION MAN #1
Writing: Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning, Art: Fernando Dagnino
I don't know anything about this guy. I'm going to type him up in Wikipedia after I submit this entry.

I, VAMPIRE #1
Writer: Josh Fialkov, Art: Andrea Sorrentino

VOODOO #1
Writer: Ron Marz, Art: Sami Basri
Now this one is interesting Voodoo is a Wildstorm character originally. Part of Jim Lee's Wild C.A.T.S. originally.
